Restoration of 607 commences

Sun 25 Sep 2011

The largely Tramcar Sponsorship Organisation (TSO) funded restoration of Boat car 607 for the National Tramway Museum at Crich has now commenced. 607 was moved into the Fitting Shop during September, with propulsion provided by stored but operational Balloon car 701, and the saloon floor has been stripped out to assess the condition of the underframe. Following this 607 has transferred to the body lift where the bogies have been released for overhaul.

607 is expected to be restored to original condition and revert to its original fleet number of 236 before moving to Crich where it will hopefully enjoy a long operating future alongside several of its former Blackpool stablemates.
