The first of the transponder operated junctions, at Little Bispham, went live on 8th July. Although due to have been ready at Easter, various problems had delayed the energisation of this crossing. Despite this (with a few exceptions) Blackpool Transport had remained firm about barring non-transponder fitted cars north of Bispham. Although the signals are now in use, Princes Way remains closed for now so the trams are not yet crossing a traffic flow at this point.
The adjecent picture shows 719 about to cross, having activated the sequence and gained a proceed aspect. Note the red light facing the motorist.
